Makeup Tutorial: First Date Makeup Look

Good morning ladies. A few days ago, I posted this tutorial on my youtube channel. It actually took me just one go because I love doing this kind of makeup.

I used to love first dates or dates in general. Because you always take that extra step to look amazing. I remember dropping a bottle of my favorite mac foundation and it was all-over my black stockings because of jitters. I also remember wearing a bright blue eyeshadow on my first day (yikes). And red lips .. which turned into a disaster when I accidentally touched my lips and when I was bidding that guy goodbye .. I touched his sleeves -- he was wearing white! Ack.

Through all that experience I learned that a successful first date, you have to keep it simple.

First date tips:
* Do not wear something skimpy
* Do not wear something with fishnets and high heels and shorts together.
*For makeup, use a primer to make your foundation last all night.
*To make you look blushing and radiant, use a cream blush and liquid illuminator underneath your setting powder. It will also last a long time if you set it properly with a powder blush/highlighter. (Watch my video on tips how to wear cream products underneath your setting powder!)
* Go for matte lipstick that is close to your shade or a little pink. because it's more easy on the eye and it's a lot less hassle for retouch. (think red. haha)
* Lastly, do not contour your nose -- especially if it is lunchtime.

There are so much happening in my life right now, and sometimes I dont know how to start my sentence.

To be honest, most of the days I'll be in my bed sulking. I wish I could share what happened but I need to protect my kids from harm, that's why I have kept my mouth shut. But I just want you to know that I'm going through a very tough time in my life.

I'm just so ever dearest happy to be doing what I love most right now - makeup. It somehow helps me stay calm and collected whenever I feel breaking down. I filmed makeup tutorials now -- because there are so much burden in my heart that I need to talk, I need to say something even it is not related to what I'm feeling inside. Makeup makes me happy right now. Shallow, but there's really nothing to complain right now. What matter is .. I am trying my best to be whole again.
So please pardon the next few days .. or weeks of being silent. One day I'll be able to say it, but not right now. Oh God how I wish the pain would stop already.

Pin-Up Girl Makeup Tutorial + Holiday greetings!

First of all I want to greet you a merry merry christmas. I know I've been MIA here, but im somehow more active in youtube lately. Because I suck at describing products, I decided to just put some demonstration on how it works.

So, how's the holiday so far?

Me and my kids spent it by having a fastfood take out and watched tons of cartoons and slept like bears.

And they gave me a gift I've been wanting for quite some time now, SLEEP. Like really deep sleep. because they behaved well. and I love them for that.

Here's something I did at the morning of Christmas Eve before I head out with my kids.

Tutorial: Holiday Makeup look

Christmas is fast approaching! I used to love christmas because of gifts you can receive, but as I grow old I love it because it's a chance for me and my kids (and family) to bond over dinner.

For family events, I like to keep my makeup clean, yet still look polished. That's why in this video, I decided to go for a simple eye makeup but with red lips.

I'm wearing NYX lipstick in Chic Red, and it's amazing. It's not drying like other nyx lipstick, this too doesnt have too much scent and taste in it. And the best part? It's semi-matte and last real good. :)

Makeup Tutorial: Smokey Eyes with a twist.

I filmed this probably three weeks ago when I had a free time. I have been uninspired lately, and quite depressed because of recent things that happened in my life. But you know what? Screw regrets. :)

Last October 22 of this current year, our team (JPEG) had a openshoot for the photographers here in Laguna. It wasn't the biggest but it turned out so well, that I heard some photographers are asking when is our next project.

My job is to do Aica and Gracee's makeup since they're close to my house (and they are my friends personally). We started the makeup around 7am and finished around 830am.

The venue is in Sunken Garden Muntinlupa. If you see it in person, you would not ever think that it would look good in the photos. Haha. But Im glad, despite the lack of comfort rooms and the intense heat, everyone enjoyed it.

Aica's peg was a forest fairy. I did her head dress below from fake flowers found in Daiso. and just attached it to a piece of styrofoam. (I used that shampoo cap for babies).

To achieve this look:
1. I prepped her face with Smashbox Photofinish Primer to keep the makeup from melting. Then my foundation routine. I used James Cooper cream foundation in CF05, and set it with Ben Nye's Neutral setting powder.
2. Primed her lids with MAC Prep + Prime in Medium and her lips with Carmex Lipbalm (which I'm addicted to!)
3. On her lids, I used a soft gold color from MAC (Flip, from BBR collection).
4. To add depth to the gold, I used a little bronze color on the crease (MAC Amber Lights)
5. With a blending brush (MAC 217) I put some lime green in the outer crease.
6. Took a deeper green (from the 88 palette) and deepen the eyelook.
7. To highlight her browbone, I used a light gold with high frost using foiling method to intensify the color (NYX Chrome Eyeshadow in Queen)
8. I lined her eyes and put some fake lashes on. I also did her brows.
9. On her cheeks and temples, I used a mix of bright green eyeshadow, NYX Queen and ELF Bronzed blush to achieve that almost elfish skin.
10. Contoured with Ben Nye's Powder Rouge in Contour 2.
11. For the lips, I used a Lancome lipcolor with a slight golden shimmers in it and topped it off with ELF Bronzed blush again.

Now, Gracee is a glamour vampire.

1. For the vampire look, I need her to look pale .. but she's almost white! haha. Prepped her skin with Smashbox Photofinish primer. Then used Graftobian's lightest foundation shade color to match her skintone. And set it with Ben Nye's Neutral setting powder.
2. Primed her lids with MAC Prep+Prime in Medium
3. On her lids and brow bone, I used MAC Vanilla. I used matte colors on her look for an authentic tired eyes.
4. On the crease, I put a violet color eyeshadow first, then topped of with a red and a little pink, and bring the red violet color down to her lower lashline.
5. Lined her eyes and put some fake lashes on.
6. For the lip color, I used a cream based product from ben nye in black, and topped it with a bright red cream color.
7. Contoured her cheeks with a grey eyeshadow.

I know halloween is over, but I hope someone will find this (still) helpful. :)

Cute beauty sponge from Etude House

This is so cute, and works well too. I have no idea how this compares to the original Beauty Blender as I still dont have it. My only problem with this is the foundation stains. It looks dirty up to now thouhg I've washed it for a couple of times already. Got this for less than Php400.00 :)

REVIEW: Ben Nye Powder Rouge Contour 2

We all know contouring is an important step in makeup.And finding the perfect contouring shade is hard. Before I would use that 6 pcs palette from Coastal Scents to contour, but it's too reddish on our Asian skin. So, when I went to MAC I asked if they have a contour powder, and they gave me Studio Fix in NC45. And since I highly look after MAC muas, I purchased it and start using it as my contour powder. It's alright for NC30-35 skin but not with NC20, because it's too orangey! I know Makeup Forever have a sculpting kit, but I havent had a chance to drop by in BHS lately.

And I'm so happy that a seller in multiply is holding a Ben Nye pre-order! I quickly placed an order with this and 3 more product. And was glad I made the right choice(s). I'm officially a Ben Nye fan.

PACKAGING:

The packaging is rubberized (like those from NARS') and is sturdy. If I'm not mistaken, you can depot this and put it in a palette.

PRODUCT:

Super pigmented! Super soft and buttery.

Although I noticed, using a bigger contour brush made the product blotchy.

My remedy? My ever-so-trusty MAC 217! Took time thought, but I love how natural it looks.

Be careful though as this one is very pigmented.

Dab it on the back of your hands first before applying. :)

WEAR:

Mine lasted for the whole day. And I was outside in the scorching sun because of the openshoot.

PRICE:

Php400 + Shipping fee.

WILL I REPURCHASE?

If I run out, probably. :)

And here's another video tutorial! I'm getting hooked on this. I love makeup, and I love sharing my makeup tips and tricks, and I think blogging and making vid tutorial is my way of sharing it to everyone.

I ordered some Ben Nye products because I needed some stuffs (for contouring). And we had a open shoot last October 22 and I thought the peg would call for a glitter, so I grabbed one too. But it turns out, I dont need it. So the "Katy Perry" in me decided to use it on a fotd (and a shameless excuse so that she wont have buyer's remorse. haha)

Pardon my eyebrows as I'm growing them to re-shape it again. I think they're too thin now. Havent plucked for 2weeks, and it's driving me nuts. haha. Anyways, I hope you guys would like this video. Please please please subscribe! Thank you everyone. :)

I think I dont post too much personal stuff no? Well, I decided to give you guys a sneak peek at my daily life. So last saturday, after a very tiring makeup gig, I decided to meet my bestfriend Jake's girlfriend and other bestfriend in ATC.

I love these girls! It feels like we knew each other for the longest time, but! I just met them. First time! I'm so glad Jake (who I fondly call Pands), arranged this mini-date with the other two important girls in his life. :)

They also gave me a chocolate bar from Royce! And we window-shopping for a wee bit before going home.

First stop is National Bookstore. And I finally got the book I wanted to read! A small reward for being a hard-working momma lately.

Of course, ATC wouldnt be complete without a visit to PCX.

Everything was on sale except for Cinema Secrets and the nailpolishes.

So, I got skin care product to test. Because lately, my creams are too heavy for my skin. My skin is unpredictable this days! In the morning it's super dray.. but afternoon comes and my face looks like a frying pan twin!

Was curious about Elf products too! I originally wanted the blush duo and the primer but its OOS. So I got this instead .. MEH. Should've bought Ever BIlena or Fanny Serrano nalang.

So that's day1 of my Photoblog! More to come! :*

REVIEW: Sleek Makeup blush in Rose Gold

Sleek Makeup! Finally. After months of salivating through this brand, I finally have one.

Although at first I thought I'd be settling with the eyeshadow palettes, I end up getting a blush instead.

8 grams of goodness!

I decided to get this blush in Rose Gold as it was rumored to be a NARS Orgasm dupe. And I love my Nars Orgasm to bits, that anything that came close to it is a must-try.

PACKAGING:

It is small and cute. I think the packaging is good. Simple but good.

I'm not sure if the packaging is rubberized or not but I find the packaging way better than Nars!

It also have a mirror. Perfect for retoucing!

FORMULA:

This is so pigmented and soft! I love the golden shimmer in it. It compliments my morena skin tone. Actually, I used it to a photoshoot last sunday, and it looked great to the tan model. The gold shimmers in it, pops out more. And when I put it on a fairer (as in oslo paper white) model, the coraly color pops out. Beautiful!

WEAR:

I found the wear good. Better than Orgasm to be honest.

PRICE:

Inexpensive at Php465.00 + Shipping fee!

Will I repurchase?

YES! but I know this will take a while, 8 GRAMS!!

Over-all rating?

Definitely 5 out of 5 stars. I love it!

I think that Nars is a little pinkier than the Sleek one. Although the gold shimmers are very very similar! Both are finely milled. I think this is what makes it a universal shade. You must try Sleek Makeup! as in NOW! haha

30 Days of Halloween: Gothic

This is my favorite. I remember doing a shoot (click here) and I struggled a lot with keeping the lines crisp and clean. Then as my skills go better with time, I realized the secret to a mess-free black lipstick.
Read below for my tips.. But for now, this is a goth inspired makeup.

Tips:
- Use a waterproof and smudgeproof like Makeup ForEver Aqua Liner in black for lining and filling the lips. Kudos to my gel liner (Kate) for keeping this lipstick locked up.
- Remember to put lip balm on first before you do your face, so that the lips will be ready for lipstick.
- Set the lipstick with a black shimmery eyeshadow, so that it wont look too flat.
- The best way to keep this clean is to have a makeup remover near, and your concealer nearer (haha)

30 Days of Halloween: Milkyway/Galaxy Mask.

When I was in Grade 3, I dream of being in space. Living in space. Breathing and studying space. Actually, I'm more of a science and history nerd than math nerd. I love anything about our mysterious life. But as I grow up, I developed a fear in height and a great amount of phobia of dark large spaces.

So yesterday, my son decided to sleep early so I had lots of time cleaning and do a makeup look before I head out to run errands. My wallet got stolen though. :/ Well, im just praying that whoever got it needs it more than I do.

I really cant remember how I did this. But I'm sure there's a tutorial in youtube. I'll post the link when I found it. :)

The Basics: Basic brushes that you must have in your kit!

I used to use my fingers and sponge applicators to put makeup on. And it looks so ugly. Too cakey. To harsh. Too .. i dont know, just too ugly. haha.

I remember buying stuffs because when the makeup artist at the counter would put them on me, it looks so pretty, but when I go home to my crappy fingers and sponge applicators, I can never pull out what the makeup artist did.

Then 5 years ago, I was handed my own Bobbi Brown brushes from my mom. And it changed the way I put my makeup on. It made me look so much better. And the application not messy, hygienic and professional looking.

And I when I was in makeup school, I start building my brush collection. And I swear I cannot put makeup on without my brushes. Even to myself.

So today, Im going to share to you the basic brushes that you must have in your kit. :)

FACE BRUSHES

Bobbi Brown Foundation Brush

A flat paddle shape brush that is usually made out synthetic bristles because it doesnt "eat" much foundation than animal hairs. It's also recommended (synthetic bristles) for sensitive skin.

- If you're in a rush and you just need to have a quick layer of foundation to even out your skin tone, this is your bestfriend. Although it wouldn't be ideal for spot concealing that's why the next brush is an essential for girls who have dark undereyes or pimples to conceal.

Charm Concealer Brush

A flat synthetic brush that looks like your foundation brush's child. It is for spot concealing and used for places that your foundation brush can't reach (like side of the nose and under eye).

- I love this brush so much. I got it in Saint James Bazaar last year. I wouldn't lie I was so starstrucked when I saw Sophie Uy of Beautynomics. (She's so pretty!) I've bought lots of concealer brush for the last 5 years. High-end to low-end. It's either too little, too short, too stiff (ouchie) or too expensive that still doesnt work. But I wont give up since I have to find that perfect fit. And this brush is soooo perfect. It's not too stiff, but not too soft. It's also synthetic. And the bristles are perfect for undereye.

It doesnt streak the concealer. That i also used this for foundation. :)

Here's a proof that I abused it so much (PS: I only deep clean my brushes because I like using a clean brush. Imagine how beaten my brushes from all those washing!):

The paint is peeling off. Eek. Have to change it soon.

Suesh Angled Blush Brush (from the 28pcs set)

Who doesn't love blush-ons right? I think blush is one of the first few makeup that I had.
This brush is perfect because it's angled. It can be used as a contouring tool too.
Also, this is way better than those brushes that comes with blush-on as this is soft.

Flat Shader Brush (MAC 239)

A densely packed eyeshadow brush that is perfect for packing on color on your lids.

Tip: Pat on your eyeshadow than sweeping it. It packs on more color and prevents fall out. :)

Throw those sponge thingy applicators. Not only it becomes dirty after a few use, it also encourage bacteria build up because you use it all the time yet you dont wash it. This is also a reason why some people have muddy eyeshadow on their lids, especially if you used it on different eyeshadows.

Blending Brush (MAC 217)

A multi-tasker! It can be used to blend harsh line, depostit color on the crease and can used as a shader brush. YOU MUST HAVE A BLENDING BRUSH! Blend those harsh lines to look more polished.

Angled Liner Brush (MAC 266)
Lining your peepers is one step you dont wanna miss because this complete the whole eye makeup. Also, if you applied it the right way, it can make your eyes look more awake.

This is another multi-tasker brush. I use this as my eyeliner brush or as a brow brush.

The angled bristles makes it easier to apply a thin line of eyeliner.

This one is made out of animal hair. The synthetic version of this is MAC 263. :)

Suesh Brow Brush

Brows frame the face, no matter how good your makeup is if your brows are crappy, it would bring the whole makeup down. So one of your essentials is a brow brush. This one from suesh is pretty good. It's short enough and stiff enough.

Suesh Lip Brush with cover.

A lip brush is perfect to keep those glosses and lipstick bacteria free. Also this helps in putting lipsticks on precisely than putting it on straight from the tube.

Use the cover as a spatula to grab a small amount of your lipstick.

Remember to sanitize the inside of the cover every day to prevent product build up and bacteria.

So there you go.

Another one to our comic book series. One of my favorites:

CATWOMAN.

There is something so sexy and special with this comic book character.

I think most guys will agree with me that there are two things that makes them head-over-heels with a girl:

1. Confidence

2. Believes that sexy is an attitude not a dress size.

And who wouldn't be confident in wearing a bright red lipstick? Or a dark smokey eyes?

STEP-BY-STEP:

Start by priming your eyes. I used Etude House Proof 10 Eyeshadow Primer. You can opt for a black eyeliner as a base.
Using a black matte eyeshadow (I used MAC Carbon), pat it on your lids.
Take a fluffy blending brush and blend it to your crease, going lighter as you go upwards.
Build up your color in your lashline, and bring it to your lower lashline. Remember in smokey eyes, you dont want your skin underneath to show up, so build up until you like the intensity of the color.
Now, with a matte white eyeshadow (like MAC Vanilla), put it on your brow bone and blend with the rest of the blended black color.
Line your eyes, flicking at the end for that cat eye look.
Curl your lashes. Put on mascara. Or use a false lash if preferred.
Move to your lips and line it with a bright red lip liner such as NYX Plush Red.
After lining and filling in, top it over with a bright red like MAC's Russian Red.
Contour your cheeks.

TIPS:

- Put a thick layer of unblended loose powder under your eyes to catch the fallouts.

- OR do your foundation after the eyemakeup. :)

- For an intense and deep smokey eyes, use a black eyeliner as a base

And you're done. :)

I actually have a video tutorial on this. But my internet is kind of crappy nowadays because of the typhoon. BUT I wont complain as there are hundreds of Filipino suffering from this typhoon and Im lucky that we are safe.

I wonder what comic book character should I do tomorrow? I tried doing a "STORM" makeup. Then my husband told me I looked like "THE UNDERTAKER" when I flip my eyes backwards. :)) Yes, I have a weird talent. haha

30 Days of Halloween: Green with Envy

Halloween season is near again! :) And there are lots of reason to be creative.

I've been going around on what to do for Halloween since I wont probably go out this year (again. sigh)

And since I cant go and make my friends' faces. I'm going to blog about different makeup ideas you can do for Halloween .. for the whole month! :)

So for this week, Im going to do a series of powerful comic book women like:

Poison Ivy

This is a simple and wearable Poison Ivy makeup. This is actually an FoTD, hence being wearable.

Put on a red wig, and you're good to go. :)

STEP-BY-STEP:
1. Prep your eye with a primer.
2. Start with a lime green eyeshadow (I used my 88 eyeshadow palette, matte) and put it at the center of your lid, blending the sides.
3. Next, with a pencil/smudge brush, go for a deeper green (or as my daughter would describe the color, "forest green") and start winging the eyeshadow. Dont forget to bring the color down to your lowerlashline and blend it with the lime green color.
4. Now, with a white or pale green color, deposit some in your tearducts and blend with the lime green. Use this color as your highlight too.
5. With a gel liner, draw a very graphic wingedliner, following the eyeshadow
6. Curl your lashes and put mascara or use a false lashes :)
7. Put on some pink nude lipgloss
And you're done:)

NYX Matte Lipstick in Shocking Pink

I must admit, I suck at words. I used to blog all the time, but being in the kitchen for the longest time, or having friends who are so great they dont challenge your grammar so much (haha. NOSEBLEED!), I sometimes find it hard to get to my point .. And this is how I feel about this lipstick.

I wanted MAC's Candy Yum Yum lipstick so bad, but it's limited edition and sold really fast. And then, a heaven sent online seller, Starmaine Cay from facebook appeared and make it possible for me to get a dupe of Candy Yumyum.

And here we have, NYX Matte Lipstick in Shocking Pink.

Swatch,

As you can see from the swatch this shocking (YES, VERY SHOCKING PINK) lipstick is so vibrant.

Although it have a somehow purple undertone to it, it still flatters my morena skintone.

PACKAGING:

The packaging reminds me of Makeup For Ever's lipstick. Except in my opinion, though the MUEE's casing is a little strudier, the NYX's lipstick mechanism (the one that goes up and down. haha) is so much better than MUFE's as it "locks" in place. My two MUFE lipsticks have dent on the top because the twisting mechanism does not lock in place. It can be twisted by little pressure.

FORMULA:

I like the formula of this lipstick. Glides on like MAC's Satin formula, but dries matte. It's the same pigmentation and formula as the Makeup Forever too.It can accentuate drying though, and that is common for matte lipsticks anyways.

PIGMENTATION:

The pigmentation is so great! It swipes on opaque and evenly. Although make sure you prep your lips with lip balm beforehand.

WEAR:

The wear is good. Not as great as my neon pink from MUFE (203), but can wear up to 4-6hours. Please do mind that I did not eat, I drink though but only once.

PRICE:

I got this for 300 pesos + Shipping Fee.

WILL I REPURCHASE?

Hell yeah. Im eyeing on Perfect Red and Angel/Strawberry Daiquiri. :)

OVERALL RATING:

I'm giving it 4 out 5. If only it stays like my MUEE 203, I would give it 5 out of 5.

Young love! Bongga sila, I love them. Haha. Ang loving ni girl at ang sweet naman ni groom! :)

Although, I had a problem with her foundation from the first try. It turned so dark! I discovered she's acidic. :D She told me that that's her always concern with makeup, her foundation is too dark. And was glad I know I how to correct it. I love you both, and best wishes!

For her photoshoot for the campaign of their pageant, Elite 2011 in De La Salle Dasma. Yes, that's my client not Beyonce. Bongga din to si Ate, sinasapian ni Beyonce! She won 2nd runner up (I was her MUA din at the pageant). Congrats Neen! :)

The 'No Makeup' Makeup Look

Can you believe she's wearing makeup? :) I personally am more of a beauty/au naturale makeup artist than a fashion makeup artist. I love that Aica have clear skin.

But you too can achieve that 'no makeup' makeup look.

My key points here are:

1. PRIME! Cleanse your face, prime your face with a moisturizer or a primer to keep it matte and to have that barrier to protect your face from the makeup products. Prime your lips too with lip balm.

2. Conceal. Conceal discoloration and pigmentation. And blend well with the skin.

3. Use a translucent setting powder to set your concealer.

4. If you must contour, contour very lightly.

5. For the eye makeup, I only contoured the hallows of her eyesocket and tightline for that made-up look.

6. Use a cream blusher for a natural look and blend well.

7. Make the brows neat, but not too polished. Or else it would look fake or too made-up.

8. Curl those lashes!! This is an important step as we're not wearing any false lashes. It opens the eye more.

9. Coat your lashes with mascara, just one coat and you're done. Dont over do it. Clumpy is not natural. =)

The most important step in this makeup is priming and of course taking good care of your skin. :)

Brown Smokey Eyes and exaggerated wing eyeliner

Haha. So much for a creative title. This is my favorite eyemakeup because it flatters my eye shape. I moved on from black smokey eyes and fell in love with brown smokey eyes as it looks sophisticated. Also, smokey eyes correct my eyeshape to make it look smaller and less protruding. :)

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Review and Swatches

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream.

The first time I saw swatches online, I did not like it all, just because they looked so drying. But curiosity got me, that after months of just looking, I end up buying it. And oh boy was I happy that I bought one (or two. haha)

Price:

Php 310.00 at Pampered Beauty

(Small review on the seller: Very prompt and has a lot of patience with me inquiring about their stuffs. Had an easy transaction with them! And their products are cheaper than most multiply seller.)

Packaging:

The packaging is so amazing. I was sold by the matte cap actually. Haha.

It also looks sturdy.

Applicator:

It's doe foor applicator made applying the lip cream so much better and less messy. I think it's okay if you're using this on yourself, but if you're using it on a client or someone else, you might want to swipe some into a metal palette or at the back of your sanitized hand, then use a lip brush.

Pros:

- Inexpensive yet it is a great product

- Matte without really drying your lips.

- Easy to apply

- Has a decent wear. Mine lasted for 4 hours with a drink or two.

- Two swipes and you get an opaque finish.

-Lots of colors to choose from, so women of color can find something that will flatter their skintone.

-Easily accessible through multiply resellers.

Cons:

-Can emphasize dryness, so put lip balm first and exfoliate!

-For makeup artist and hygiene freaks, the doe foot applicator can be bothersome.

-Since resellers get this from states, there would be limited stocks.

Stainless Steel Spatula! Finally! After using a plastic craft spatula for years, I finally convinced myself to buy a metal one.

and Graftobian HD Color Palette in Warm 1. I decided to get the sampler first because I want to test it first. And by the looks of it, im buying full sizes!!! I love it so much. haha

Im going on a makeup shopping ban after I buy kit upgrades. I love earning my own money too and obviously, spending it. :))

NYX Round Lipsticks

My first NYX Round lipsticks in Perfect, Chic Red and Tea

NYX Perfect and Swatch

-NYX RLS in Perfect is my perfect nude lipcolor. I dont know why but there are only one nude lipcolor that doesnt washed me out and it is Prestige's Champagne which Im having a hard time looking for. So Im glad that this comes close to it. It's perfect for smokey eyes!

NYX Chic Red and Swatch

- NYX Chic Red is a shocker for me. I thought I'll never like it because it was a little pinkier than my taste but it ends up being an adorable everyday red that wont catch way too many attention but would still make you look different. I love this color! It's a nice break from my matte reds.. I just wished they would reformulate NYX RLS and make the wear more longer because their colors are so pretty.

NYX Tea and Swatch

- I originally thought that this one is Tea Rose but I end up knowing it's different. Haha. NYX Tea is an awkward nude lipcolor for me since it makes me look older by 10 years. It have a gold undertone to it in person and that bothers me. BUT sometimes it looks way good (like with a colored smokey eyes). It's uhh... it's not a favorite and i dont really like it that much but I think this would shine it's way someday.

Comparison

General Observation with NYX Round lipsticks:

- They're sooo budget friendly! For less than Php200.00 per tube, it's a good buy.

- Color range is insane!!!

- A little drying but a good lip balm underneath will fix that.
- Creamy and easy to apply.

- Staying power is poor though.

- Can enhance dryness of the lips .. so exfoliate before using!
- Be careful in using them straight from the tube, because they're really soft.

Review: Shawill Soft Lipliner in No.55

I was never into lip pencil or anything in pencil form to be honest. But being an aspiring makeup artist, I started collecting stuffs for my kit. Also, after makeup school I appreciate what a good lipliner can do.

I will always be on the hunt for inexpensive products as I still have a lot of stuffs in my to-buy list.

I have heard of Shawill before from my colleagues, specially their eyeshadows. So I checked it in Watson's and saw this one. Well, it's easy to spot on. With a hot pink end and being very long for a pencil, you kind of see it from the rest. Since it's dirt cheap, I decided to try it.

Shawill Soft Lipliner in No.55

PROs:

1. Lots of product for Php89.00! And it's very long too.

2. Perfect as a base for hot pink lipsticks to make the color "pop" out.

3. Easy to sharpen because it's not too creamy.

4. More hygienic than automatic lipliners since you can sharpen every time you'll use it.

CONs:

1. Drying

2. After a while (I had mine for about a month before I posted a review), the formula became drier and harder, making me tug my skin when lining.

3. It have a colored pencil scent. Seriously. :)) I could mistake it as my kid's pencil. haha

Will I repurchase this? No. I have seeral lipliners already. And I think I have enough for a while. Also, since the formula will dry up as fast you think it will, it's a total waste of money even if it's cheap. And I already declared my love for Etude House Auto Lipliners. :)

The cold season is here. So to warm up the cold weather, im starting to wear dark and sultry colors. It's perfect that I have this in my collection of reds and bright pinks.

And as I said before, one of my favorite formula would be mattes and im glad Revlon have one.

As a makeup artist, you tend to test products a lot and find makeups that can come close to other expensive brands. As a blogger, I want to try different things to help some girls who are on a budget or finding an alternative.

My brow addiction started when I first saw how my instructors from MakeUp For Ever do theirs. They would always compliment my eye color, but always comment about the brows. This pushed me more. And I wanna thank them for an intensive training and honest opinions. I would practice day and night to get that fresh-from-the-magazine brows, and despite trying different products, I still always go back to powder eyebrow color.

But my Bobbi Brown has finally hit it's pan and I know it wont be long before I finish the lightest color. So, I end up looking for an alternative while I'm still saving up for replenishment. Then Liz of Projectvanity.ph came to the rescue and saw her recent brow routine. So when I went to the mall, I didnt think twice in getting this product.

(L-R): In2It Lightest color, Bobbi Brown's Sable, In2It Medium Color, BB Mahogany and In2It darkest color.

PROs:

1. Inexpensive! At Php299.00, you could never go wrong with this

2. Has a mirror. It's not as big as the Bobbi Brown's but it still works.

3. Smooth color. And not chalky.

4. Middle color is love.

5. Obviously, it comes close to my BB Brow Kit in terms of pigmentation, staying power and smoothness.

6. Will work with different hair colors.

CONs:

1. The free brush. I threw this out since I love to use MAC 266 for my brows.

That's it! Im going to use this as my brow powder from now on.

This would last me years to finish. :)

Finally, a fun look. :) I decided to use my Ben Nye Cream Color palette just because I know there would be a little chance that I'll use them on shoots since Im doing mostly beauty and bridal makeups plus Im still thinking if I should pursue this career because of the sudden boom of the makeup industry (not a bad thing though because I love talking about makeup with other people! And sharing finds and rants about products. That's the reason why I started blogging about makeup anyways). But for the meantime, let me give you a different kind of look today. :)

Maybelline Magnum Mascara. Volumize and Lengthens my lashes in just three coats.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Bronze. A glowing bronzer giving you a nice beachy ready glow sans the sun.

Lip Products.

NYX Round Lipstick in Perfect. Inexpensive nude color for everyday.

Etude House AutoLipliner in 03. Im in love with this.

Brushes.

MAC 109. Havent use this for foundation yet but I love it for contouring.

MAC 217. A multi-tasking brush. I love it for blending and putting crease color.

MAC 266. My forever brow brush. I have a hard time doing my brows without this one.

Shawill Eyeliner brush. This came with 2 other brushes, and I just love how precise the lines are. And it's way cheap than MAC 210!

REVIEW: MAC FACE AND BODY

Before anything else, please let me tell you that my photos are not altered in whatsoever way in Photoshop. :) I might've added some captions and watermarks at the photos but the photos will never be retouched in any way. Also please be aware that I'll be posting my bare face .. please read at your own risk. HAHAHA

Ok, now on to the review.

I've been taking care of my self more especially my skin condition after I gave birth. So one of my goal is to find a foundation that will be light and sheer but evens out my skin tone at the same time. I have to stay away as much as possible from heavy foundations to avoid clogging my skin, since I've been breaking out lately. :( Maybe my face is so used to the heavy junk I used to put that it's reacting with light ones? Uhh I dont know. hahaha. But yeah.

Im happy with my Smashbox Tinted Moisturizer but I want something that have a little more coverage. I used to like the MUFE Face and Body foundation (waterproof) but BHS is a lot farther away from home, and I've been settling with online shopping since it's more convenient for me. So I decided to order the MAC Face and Body Foundation at my MAC supplier.

So, what is MAC Face and Body?

Obviously, it lightens the darkness of my under eyes and it helps even out my skin tone as I have a darker forehead than the rest of my face.

With MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC35 (Undereyes only):

Before and After:

PROS:

- Sheer coverage. Although you can build it up to low coverage.

- The shade perfectly matches my skin tone.

- I love the watery feeling of the foundation. It's easy to wear and very lightweight.

- When using flash, it looks like skin rather than foundation. Doesnt have a white cast.

- Although the price can be a little steep, it boast an amount of 120ml of product that will last you a long time.

CONS:

- The smell! The smell I cant really describe but it's awful. Although it disappears after a few minutes, still it sometimes bothers me.

- Price.

- Not available locally.

- I once heard that MAC is marketing it as a HD foundation. Nope. No way. Unless you have perfect skin, this is not a HD foundation. :)

Will I purchase? Im not so sure because this one is not available locally. :)

Went to the mall to check what our local stores offer. Thanks to my generous mother who always buy me stuffs even if Im already 23 and married. :)) (I refuse to ask my husband for money that will be only spent in things like this.)
The NYX lipsticks came from Starmaine Cay Online shop in Facebook. I love that storee.. They sell NYX at the lowest prices. They are the lowest right now, it's not even on sale. (They sell the lipsticks for Php130.00 compared to other online shops that sell their NYX lipsticks for Php200 and up.)

Nichido Minerals Spot Concealer, a dupe for MAC Chromagraphic Liner?

I was rushing to the mall before a photoshoot for a friend when I came across this product and it reminded me so much of the MAC Chromagraphic Pencil. So I went ahead and bought it just to see if this can be a dupe for my beloved MAC Chromagraphic Pencil.

So is it a dupe?
As a concealer, it's okay .. if only it's yellow undertone but it is pink. The texture is okay and blendable. And it conceals a small pimple well.
The pencil is not as creamy as the Chromagraphic but wouldn't tug your skin.
As a nude liner? I dont know if it works as well. Because on me, it made my (very) sensitive eyes irritated. I was tearing up the whole day and my eyes turned bright red which doesn't happen with the Chromagraphic Liner. So I suggest trying it first. :)
This last longer than the Chromagraphic because of it's texture. Chromagraphic being creamy slides off real easily.
For Php139.00 it's an okay product. But please try it on your waterline first to avoid being irritated by the product. :)

Will I buy it again? No. I'm satisfied with my Chromagraphic Liners and I dont think I will finish them up sooner. :)

Bronzed Look for the super rainy days

I, personally love the bed weather. I seriously can curl up in a ball and sleep all day. But I hate going out with this kind of weather. One of the pet peeves I have is wet footwear. Haha. I hate it so much. And since sun wouldn't show even for a while I decided to bring out my favorite, Bobbi Brown Shimmerbrick in Bronze and did my makeup.

Tried curling my hair but it failed miserably. :)) Seriously no curling mousse or hairspray will hold my stubborn hair.

My To-Go Lipstick: MAC Velvet Teddy

Things I look for in an everyday lipstick is:

1. Matte

2. My lips but better shade

3. Little to no-maintenance.

I wish I could always use my matte reds and hot pinks but they can be a bitch sometimes that's why I always end up wearing lip balms or petroleum jelly when I go out with my kids. And it's more safer, so that nothing will transfer to my kids' clothes.

MAC Vegas Volt Lipstick

A quick review for MAC's Vegas Volt Lipstick. :) I've been building my lipstick collection this year and I usually have reds and pinks. But I want to add some colors to my ever growing collection, and just in time, Ive been wanting to try a coral lipstick.

Vegas Volt in NC35

Amplified Formula.. Very creamy and easy to apply.

Bright Coral lipstick

PRO:

1. Since the formula is amplified, it is creamy and easy to apply.

2. Coral and morena skin tones are bestfriends. I really like corals for morena girls. They look so sexy yet soft with it.

3. Opaque. I had trouble with Creme Cup but this one is so opaque. I <3 it.

4. Doesnt make me look old unlike other bright lipsticks can do.

Neutral:

1. Staying power is so-so.

CONs:

1. Can be expensive for someone in a budget.

2. If you tend to lick your lips, you're not gonna like it. hahaha. I have this thing with anything but matte that I like to "taste" the lipstick and end up regretting it. :))

3. Smell. Im not a fan of the vanilla scent, especially in the morning. (Am I the only one who have that? I always have stomach aches in the morning even after breakfast. It goes away by lunch though. As in ALWAYS. Pagaalis lang. haha. Weird.)

Will I repurchase? Uhhh.. Who knows. :)) But Im not sure whether I'll abuse it that much because I only wear petroleum jelly on my lips whenever I go out with my kids, which is about 95% of the time.

Review: Etude House Eye's Cream eye "cream"

Oohhh.. An eye product. It might be too late because my eyes looks to old, baggy and wrinkly already but who knows.. God might send some miracle. :)

This one is standing next to the Goodbye Pore Ever when I first swatch it. And it reminded me of the Garnier Eye roll on that can be quite addictive but then it caused me bad allergies. I dont know why but I've been taking my resolution seriously now. Specially with skin since it's okay to be huge and have a healthy looking skin than being skinny with ewww skin. So, I grabbed it. And I've been using it for a week now.

I think this is kind of the same with MAC Fast Eye Respond cream that I used to have. It mains purpose is to de-puff and reduce fine lines. It did de-puff my eyes but didnt do much for my lines because it is way too prominent. But I like the cooling effect.

What I hate is it's packaging. It is more unhygienic than the Garnier roll on since this is in stick form. I tried scooping some products at the top with a disposable spatula, but it doesnt apply well. So im back to "double dipping". :(

I use this twice a day. In the morning after wash my face and in the evening before sleeping. I loooove its cooling properties. It relaxes me. :) Specially when I pop this in the fridge for couple of minutes.. I love it.

I might not buy this again because Im going to try more eye creams out there that would help me moisturize my under eyes. But this is nice as a refresher. Is it worth your money? Personally, I dont think so. :)

Review:Etude House Soft Touch Auto Lipliner and Refill

I wasn't into lip liners before, but ever since I fell in-love with lipstick, I know I have to give in and try some. My first lipliners came from my mom, it was NARS' Jilted Love and Nepal which is one of the best lip liners I own.... actually, I still have Nepal. I have lost its cap anf yet, whenever i re-sharpen it and swatch it to see if it is still creamy.. guess what? IT STILL IS. :) But this is not about the NARS' lip liner. This is about my recent favorite. :)

I before hand got myself a lipliner from The Face Shop and it is dry, it is tugging, it is expensive. It is not worth it. So when I was browsing Etude House a couple of months ago, I was really not hopeful at all. But when I swatch it, it was a crush. When I saw the price, it is love.

For only Php 98.00 you'll get a pretty deal with this lipliner plus the refill only cost Php48.00!

Let's get into the cons and pros.

PROs:

1. Have a color range for everyday use. Not really that extensive like high-end brands like MUFE but this one have colors that you can use for everyday to a red retro lips.

2. Crazy inexpensive!

3. Refillable. Saves plastic!

4. Pigmented

5. Not too drying.

Cons:

1. Refills doesn't have a cap. So dont lose your previous one.

2. If you misplace the lipliner's cap, it will cause the product to be drying.

3. Although the staying power is above average, it is really not long wearing. (Survives, a drink and two. But not eating.)

4. There are no bright shades like hot pink or orange

5. Small amount of product. (But I guess that's why it is so cheap. One refill can be used 10 times or more depending on how much you put. Mine lasted for about 10 uses top.)

Will I repurchase? I just did. I love it. I love the nude color. I just put on some gloss on top and it's ready to go. I also used this at a bride, And it prolong the lipstick's wear. :)

REVIEW: Smashbox Sheer Focus in Luminous

One of my mid-year resolution aside from losing weight is to take care of my skin more. My skin went from Okay to not acceptable after I gave birth to my second son. I have sunspots, and all that ugly spots all over my body. So I promise to take good care of it more.

So, since now that I had stop going to social events or clubbing, I need a foundation that a lot lighter than my heavy coverage one. I'm a loyal user of MAC Studio Fix Line. Yes! Powder Foundation, Concealer and Liquid Foundation! Think of how much junk I used to put in my face.

I've been thinking of getting something from NARS aka the famous sheer glow but Makati is quite far from my place. But luckily, a Beauty Bar counter opened near here so I went ahead and browse. Other might go for BB Creams, but I have a hard time with BB Creams as they always appear ashy on me or way too light. So I opted for Tinted Moisturizer.

So, after swatching, I decided to buy this one instead. I decline to swatch it in my face in the counter. Ever since talaga I dont use the one in the counter to try in my own face especially people have been using them na. It's unhygienic since I dont know how many people have tried that or how long have this product stayed in the counter.

So upon arriving home, I quickly washed my face and tried it on. I haven't tried it on with a primer yet, but here are my thoughts after wearing it for about 8-1o times already.

PROs:

1. It is moisturizing indeed.

2. Gives a "glow-from-within"

3. Sheer coverage that makes you look dewy.

4. Has SPF15.

5. Easily available since Beauty Bar is almost everywhere.

6. Didnt break me out, since it's perfect for my dry skin.

CONS:

1. Doesnt conceal anything, it's that sheer. It would actually pass up as a illuminator/primer instead.

2. Not that cheap. At 1450, you'll get a small amount of product. (YES, it looks like used when I first opened it. It's not a chubby lotion type. It has quite a "dent" at the top. I dont really know how to explain it.

3. You need to set it with a light powder.

4. May not be good for oily-skinned people since it may enhance oiliness.

So, if it's that sheer why do I keep reaching out for it? Well, it's perfect for going out with my kids. I can snuggle them without worrying about my foundation transferring to their skin or clothing. It's also makes my skin look almost-made up paired with MAC Blot Powder when I'm just going to the grocery or picking my Ate Amerie at school.

I may not repurchase because I found my HG everyday foundation which I'll be posting soon. I'm so excited for it. :) But for now, my revised everyday makeup that you can also call "the mommy makeup look".

Week1,

I stopped drinking sodas and powdered juices. Although I still cant give up my coffee and tea.

Bowel movement is okay. But it's getting more frequent than it used to.

Tried jogging. And I'm emphasizing TRY. as I always wake up late. Haha

Still, I dont want to use a scale to monitor if I already lose some weight. I dont want to pressure myself really. I want to motivate myself more, that's why I always look at Miranda Kerr's picture every single waking moment and telling myself "You can do this, or you'll barely make it through the stairs without stopping in a few years".

Discipline is so hard, Goddamit. But hopefully I'll get through another week.

Aha! My infamous weight issues.

I've been having weight issues since I was in gradeschool. My grandmother force fed me when I was around 7 years old because I was thin. Then my aunt moved in with us in our house, and my weight suddenly boomed like it wasn't stick thin before. Big shaggy chin, big tummy and really tight shirts. 2 years later, since I've been having crushes already (at a young age! hahaha), I lost weight again.

In highschool I was always teased as fat or chubby, although looking at my pictures now, Hell no! I was curvy and had huge perky breast. At a young age of 13, I have been crying myself to sleep because I was fat. And this habit continue until now.

I slowly lose weight during college, because I've been drinking and smoking a lot. Going out really made me forget to eat, there would be days I survive because I was drowning myself with so much beer in my system. And finally the crying stopped when I saw my jeans size go from 28-26!

Then I got pregnant, and my weight kinda went down hill from there.

When I found out I was pregnant (I was 18years old that time), I was 100-110lbs. And since it was a first born and first apo, I was spoiled to death! They would call me during meals, because I can't miss it because I'm pregnant. Of course, the drinking and smoking stopped too. Before giving birth they weight me .. I was 160lbs. I wanted to kill myself for gaining 50-60lbs in a couple of months! I also didnt breast fed my first born, which made the losing weight more slowly as if it's not slow enough.

After 3 years, I managed to sliced off 40lbs and 6inches from my pants size(after giving birth) and continue losing weight ....

Then I got pregnant again! Holy JESUS! hahaha. I was trying to control my cravings this time, and I did it until I was nearing my 5th month. Then my OB told me that me and the baby is underweight. Of course, my nagging husband asked me to eat, and eat I did ... Of course I want to give birth to another healthy baby. I gained so much again this time. And my latest weight is 170-180lbs.

I've been crying myself to sleep since I gave birth because of my weight issue. Sometimes I would eat and eat until I annoy myself and cry like a newborn baby. I know how hard it is for my husband to see a happy-go-lucky girl turned into someone who doesn't even want to go out because she feels fat.

So, today, June 27 2011 I would start to live healthy.

This is not only for my family, for my husband and my kids .. I'm going to lose weight because they deserve a person who's confident and be lively again. :) I wont go into diet crashing, so this might take a while. Also, since I just had a CSection, gym is not in the list. I also dont promise to be skinny, but I promise to be more healthy. :) Mid-year resolution I guess. :)

I'll be updating weekly (aside from blogging about makeup) on how it's going. There would be no weighing scale and measuring tapes, so I would not feel pressured to lose weight. My goal is to look and be healthy, not to be stick thin. Right My first attack would be Low Carb diet. :) Wish me luck.

And by any chance my husband is reading this, Hi baby! I'm doing this for our family, and for myself! I love you.

- It came with a brush, but the brush is something I wont use because it's too scratchy for my taste. I use my Suesh Stippling brush or Suesh angled brush.

I'm really not into cheek color, I've been sticking to this and my NARS Orgasm. And this is something I almost always reach for. This blush is smooth, easy to blend and pigmented! Seriously pigmented! I would try more cheek colors for the coming months (because I have too much eyeshadows already).

NICHIDO Loose Powder in So Natural

When I was building my kit for building my portfolio, I would scout the internet and talk to my mentors on what inexpensive products that I can use for Xdeals. I then came to this loose powder, which I saw one of our teachers in mufe use. Although I have bought different loose powders, I keep on coming back to this.

Pros:

- Inexpensive for less than Php 200.00

- Blends really well

- easy to access

- For a person like me that have a skin asthma, it didnt made my allergies go crazy.

- 25grams of product that is cheap and works well!

- Sturdy packaging

- Photogenic

Cons:

- For travelling, this is quite bulky to bring around.

- It's not as finely milled as the other loose powders in the market

Repurchase: Yes!

This comes with a sponge in it, but I throw it. I use a brush for this one. BUT a puff is still the best for applying loose powders.

I give it 4 out of 5 stars. :)

MAC Chromagraphic Liner

I can now say, I finally own a MAC Pro item! Last year, when MAC Pret a Papier collection was launch, I was so broke. I was really craving for the blush and of course, the chromagraphic liner. I thought I would never have the chance to get the pencil until I saw a friend like a page in facebook last month, MAC FOR LESS. And when I saw FOR LESS, you know how fast I clicked the link and like it.

I had some doubt about it, but I still insisted that I try and Im glad I did. A month after (it was a pre-order), my pencils arrived! And oh how much I begged the seller to have this pre-order again (they told me they MIGHT do it again next year! Plenty of time to save up girls! Their prices are off the hook!)

As soon as I received the package, I tore it like a mad woman, swatched the product and try it on.

I'M SO INLOVE WITH THIS PRODUCT!!!! I never like lining my waterline because it hurts my eye, but this did not. I dont really like this as a concealer though, but I use it as my highlight's base (eye).

Here is a mini-review:

PROs:

- looks pretty natural than using a white eyeliner to look awake!

- a versatile product. can be used as a liner, a base, a concealer and lipliner.

- creamy! no tugging of the eyes!

CONs:

- this is not ideal to use as a concealer if you have wrinkly bags like mine, they settle into lines.

- staying power is not good! :(

- not available locally, and not available through free standing mac store unless they have it in a collection.

- local price is expensive! Php950!

Will I buy it again? Uhh, after I finish my two pencils! Haha. I love them so much I bought two!

Oh, did I told you how much I got this? 850! I cant wait for Bev and Rica (Mac For Less' sellers) to have this pre-order again. :)

Review: BEN NYE Neutral Set Colorless Face Powder

I got this setting powder a few months ago because I wanted to try something new. For years, I've been trusting my good old Nichido setting powder for setting up my foundation. Although I love the Nichido brand, there have been some issue with it and I'm looking for a "sweat-proof" powder that would last the whole day, especially for bridal makeup in this humid weather! And behold, I was hired by a friend to do his bride's makeup.

So, here is my personal review for this product.

I'm half-way through the pregnancy and the OB suggested that I should rest a lot since my placenta is sitting too low, any stress would put the baby at risk.. A shoot for my sister's styling class. It was a challenge (more like a struggle!) to work in a dim place (for a studio, it's pretty dark!) but everything went like planned. Im squeezing makeup gigs as much as possible, as my husband asked me to take a rest when the last trimester hits. My tummy's is at 18weeks already. Wow, time does fly! :)) I hope my skin will be kind enough to put make up on, but it keeps breaking out -- even on a face rest! I guess that's what you have to go through for a very rewarding blessing. :) My ultrasound will be at the end of the month to determine the gender and we're crossing our fingers for a baby boy. :D

Last thursday, I met Tricia Gosingtian and Jaja Chua for Cassie Revereza's photoshoot for her upcoming Lingerie Bar (brand name is Hellico. The official launch of the website will be this October! :D So watch out for it!).

It was fun. Tricia Gosingtian is such a nice person! :) Plus working again with my friend Jaja made this day worth it despite the backache my pregnancy state is giving me. Haha.

For her makeup, the designer asked me to do a barely there makeup as this compliments well the softness of the lingerie the model will wear. And to put a bit edge on it, we used a very fat false lash. Here, you can see the power of MUFE's Eyebrow Corrector since the model have thin brows! I love how her brows looked and was very please with it!

Im hoping to get my hands on the beauty shot(s) soon. :D

(Btw, im sorry if I hadn't been updating well. Being pregnant, I have to go through bad skin days. but the baby is worth it!! :D We'll find out the gender this August. Product Review: Make Up For Ever's Eyebrow Corrector

During days when I'm too lazy to do a whole face, I'll just slab on my moisturizer and put my concealer on. But I always end up giving myself another 5minutes for brows and mascara. And that will complete my morning makeup and still look well-made. :)

Lately, I've been reaching for this item: Make Up For Ever's Eyebrow Corrector in No. 2

I got number 2 since I re-dye to black.

Eyebrow Corrector

Swatch. T: lined. B: blended.

PROs:

1. It's waterproof! Finally, no more retouching my brows after I wash my face mid-day.

2. It's almost smudge-proof. It survives a scratch or two (no hard rubbing here!)

3. It looks pretty natural when blended. Doesn't look "too thick". :)

4. A little goes a long way. I dont have any idea when I'll finish this! haha

5. Hygienic packaging. Unlike MAC Brow Set that you have to re-dip the mascara brush everytime.

CONs:

1. If you have lighter hair, the shade 0 will be a little hard to get since it will sell out fast. Unlike darker shades, they seem to have No 2 and the second shade always.

2. It's not sweat-proof. During the recent humid weather in my country I would have to set it with brow powder since cream and heat doesn't mix well.

3. You have to brush your eyebrows with a spoolie/clean mascara wand to avoid looking fake. I will never just put it on and not brush it. My brows look flat!

4. Expensive. This is around 1,100+pesos.

I dont think I'll be buying another one of this since it will take me ages to finish this. :)

Product Review: MakeUp For Ever lipstick in 203.

During makeup school last year, I encountered a bright pink lipstick. I was in a pinup craze that time, so I snob the lipstick and stay close to my red. Until our culminating project, I was brainstorming for a look, and was inspired by fairies. I went to school and practice (yes, we can do that. Only if there are no classes there and you tell the instructors in advance). It was perfect for the look I was going for. So, I chat up at the counter with Ms Angie and asked if the shade is available. She told me that it's soldout and they dont know if the next shipment will include this. So I asked her to put me in the waiting list and contact me as soon as possible if this arrives. Almost a year later (HAHA! Yes. I was in the waiting list since June last year), I finally got my dream bright pink lipstick.

MUFE in 203.

(Poor lipstick, the heat in our country did this. :(But it's still okay though)

PROs:

A. Long wearing! One application lasts 12hours, and I was in Enchanted Kingdom!

B. Doesn't budge! Cool. I can kiss my daughter with this

C. Almost non-drying.

D. Great color pay-off!

E. Goes on really creamy but dries into a matte finish

CONs:

A. Not always available

B. Like any high end brands, it's price.

C. The packaging! I really dont like it. You see that dent on the top the lipstick?

If you dont twist it properly in place, the packaging will move with minimal effort.

This happened to another MUFE lipstick I own.

Product Review: NARS Lip Crayon in Forbidden Red

Last Mother's Day, I received NARS' Lip Crayon in Forbidden Red as a gift from my boyfriend. I originally want the brighter red, but I bought Russian Red that same day, so I end up getting this shade. I was hesitant about the pencil type lipstick since I dont know if my cosmetic sharpener will work with it (I end up buying a sharpener from NARS too. haha.), but for the sake of trying out a new product I end up grabbing it. :)

NARS Lip Crayon in Forbidden Love

As you can see on the swatch above, it's a browner shade of red. Not shocking red, not bright, not "grandma"ish but more like a dull dark red, which can be good if you dont want to attract attention but still want to wear something red just for the heck of it. :)

PROs:

A. Since it's in pencil form, you get the best control out of it. With my red lipstick, it's necessary to use a lip pencil to avoid messing up the application

B. Two layers is all you need. Great color pay-off.

C. Lip pencil and lipstick in one! Talk about saving money.

D. Not drying!! It goes on creamy on application but dries off to a matte finish

CONs:

A. The price! You can get a full sized lipstick at MAC for a lesser price. (This is, if not mistaken, around 1200-1300pesos)

B. Though I havent tried sharpening it yet, I still bought the sharpener from the same brand to make sure I wont waste any product trying to figure out which sharpener will work (NARS' Sharpener is 395pesos)

C. The staying power is so-so. It starts to fade after 3 drinks.

Would I buy it again? Yes. Im lemming for a nude color, but after that I'm good. :) There are still other lip stuffs to try that wont break the bank. But if you dont mind spending, this one is good. :)

Nails: TFS Nailpolish

I forgot the shade, but it's a very bright cobalt blue. :D There are probably millions of review about TFS' nailpolish, so I wont get into any of that. :) Im a big fan of The Face Shop's nailpolish although it always chips after 3-4 days, and I dont do anything like laundry or something that will cause them to chip. It's also cheap for Php95. :D so there you go

I'm sorry for not posting anything for the past week, I was rushed at the hopspital last May 21st because of a severe abdominal pain. We decided to take m gall bladder out after 2 years. I was sent ath the hospital at around 9pm? and was sent at the operating room by 12mn. By 6am, I was already in my room to recover. Was discharged last 24th and doing well at the time. :)

This, by far, is the best eyeshadow I have. It glides smoothly, not chalky, not too shimmery, great color pay-off and blends beautifully. The only con with NARS is the packaging, ack! My Orgasm is a little over a year old, and the packaging starts to "peel". Grr. Plus the price can be a little steep than the usual eyeshadow duo. But it's the best. I have to do a proper FoTD soon.

Please bear with me. Haha. Im currently having the worst abdominal pain right now, and cant take meds because of some other body issues, so I'm trying to distract myself by somewhat blog and do a small review and swatch. :D

One of my favorite shoots so far. Since the clothes (these are designed by my sister, Cham Gumin. She's a fashion design student in SoFA manila, and the brain behind the upcoming brand, Frills.) are soft and fairytale-y, I opted for a barely there makeup. It helped that the model have a flawless skin and I love her cheekbones! Minimal contouring for the face. :)

I'm still alive, trying to do reviews as much as I can. And I should post them as soon as my schedule loosen a bit. :)

My inspiration is Katy Perry! I love her. She can make me drop anything I'm doing just to watch her sing and dance. I have a fair obsession with strange and cute girls (Katy Perry, Pink, Lady Gaga, Alanis Morissette, Lily Allen and Lenka are my faves!). I think I can wear this out on a party. I'm always make sure I put my best lipstick on, and hotpink is my favorite right now. I found one in MUFE during summer class, too bad it's really hard to get that shade. :(

Anyway, my skin is starting to feel great lately. Thanks to that chinese cream my aunt gave me! I'm not joking when I said it's as smooth as my daughter's skin. Even some of my dark spots starts to whiten a bit. :) Good year, good year. :)

CARE reviews: MAC lipstick in Russian Red

Anyone who know me personally knows how much I love red lipsticks! I was searching for the perfect red lipstick that will stay after a few drinks and a few cigs.

I was aiming for Ruby Woo, but then Lyn from MAC (Glorietta) said Russian Red will suit me better. And since she aced the perfect foundation color, I trusted her and got the Russian Red .. and it never leaved my purse ever since! :)

Summary:
What I like:
1. Its staying power is AMAZING! I was on my fifth or sixth stick and still, my lipstick still look as if I just put it on. :)
2. Super pigmented
3. Flattering color (I'm NC35 for reference.)

What I dont like:
1. The price. (BUT it's worth it!)
2. Since it's matte formula, it's really drying.

Tips:
1. Exfoliate and put balm before putting this on! :D

Will I buy it again? YES! I'm buying a back up! :D
Though, if you can suggest any red lipstick, please do! (What I look for a red lipstick? MATTE and bright. :p)

I GOT THE INTERNSHIP IN MAKE UP FOR EVER!!!

I got my first taste of Fashion show makeup and I love it. I love working under pressure and meeting people and show case my makeup talent. =) I just might pursue this career na talaga. At least to blog and inform everyone, im still alive! HAHA. :)

So, recently I've been busy with makeup school and some vacation (good old drinking/chill sessions and a beach getaway with my bff).

Makeup school has been taking a lot of time. It's my Day 12. and by friday, it's my last day na (sad). But that means, I can upload the pictures from my class. I'll surely miss all MUFE makeup. But I need to branch out to other brands now (I heard Shu have small classes? that I have to try).

I'm loving the MUFE Eyebrow Corrector in 0. It is the most wonderful thing ever that had happened to me since MAC brow set in Girl Boy (which is sitting lonely nowadays, because I usually fix my brows in school.). Though the Eyebrow Corrector is out of stock. Recommendations? Buy the color in 0. It is almost for everyone. But if you're building a makeup kit, buy 0 and 3. So you can mix colors to suit everyone. =)

Whatelse ... humm. I heard the small MAC (and last haul, until I recover from MUFE's makeup school) haul I bought from a friend arrived! I want to go back in Laguna asap to pay for them na and get them (MAC 222 BRUSH!!!! yey.) I also have Gift Voucher from MUFE worth 3k. The fucking falsies (which cost a lot, 1,000+php) is calling my name. must resist!

Does anyone know what collection is out in MAC counters na? I must save na. I need to start building my makeup traincase and start doing portfolios now!! :)

Btw, I'm always happy in school because my teachers always compliment how clean the blending of the eyeshadows is! :) I just need more practice on nose contouring and im done (yes, my eyebrow technique had improved well! :D)

day 5 is about night makeup. so here's what I learned that day
Tip #1: Yellow lighting diffuses/wash outs the color. :)
other than that, eye makeup is always the focal point in night makeup. smokey, vivid colors will do. :)

What I learned: Day 3 and Day 4

We're back in school last monday. :)

So Day3.
Eye shape and Lip Correction.

Tip #1: For droopy/hooded lids, blend the eyeshadow towards the temples as this "lifts" the eye.
Tip #2: For VERY small lids, put a shimmery color to open the eyes.
Tip #3: This is not new, but line your lower lashline with white eyeliner to open the eyes. :)

with the lip correction, that's easy. If the lips are thin, line your lips outside the natural line (and blend of course). Thick, inside. :)

Day 4. Day 4 is about Maquillage du Joir (meaing, Day Make Up)

- USE PRIMER. specially, in the Philippines where the climate is very humid. You dont want your foundation to slid off in the middle of the day.
- You dont have to stick to neutral eye colors! Salmon Pink, Light Yellow, Gold, Bronze .. etc. :)
- here's my personal touch in this day. I lined the eyes with Aqua Liner in Light Brown, flick the lashes, and apply Smokey Lash Mascara! Instant awake look! :)
- Blush on plays a big role on day makeup! Keep it fresh and natural looking. :) I find NARS Orgasm perfect! anything with little shimmer on it. :)

Review: Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet + Foundation

I have this for quite a while, and I've been using this more than my MAC Studio Fix.
Here's my two cents about this foundation
(im doing this review, base on personal experience, and what I experience from school when using this foundation)

PRO:
1. It's full coverage. You need so little of this! Sometimes, I can save some concealer since this will cover up everything. :)
2. It looks soooo natural! I'll try to post a picture for reference (I'll post it this afternoon if I'm in the mood to play with makeup.)
3. This is the best part for me since I really love cuddling with my baby! IT DOESNT STAIN YOUR CLOTHES!! :) Unlike my MAC which sticks on everything even if I set it right!

CONs:
1. The price! It's Php 1950 if my memory serves me right.
2. It sets quickly.
3. Hard to blend when used without a primer.

(FOR REFERENCE AGAIN, my skin is combination-dry. So, I dont pretty much have trouble on it creasing or my face being oily.)

Tips:
Since this sets quickly, act fast! This works better with a Flat Foundation brush than the stippling brush. Of course, with the Flat foundation brush you'll get streaks, so to aid this: even out the application with a sponge. :)

Will I buy it again? YES! because I love it so much. :) This MIGHT be my hg foundation. :)

What I learned: Day 2

Yesterday we are taught about face and eyebrow shape correction.
So let me start by telling you what happened. I sucked with eyebrow shaping!! I swear, it's the hardest of all! and contouring using liquid foundation is the second. Over-all, this sesh is the hardest as this make or break a look.

I was ok with contouring, I just need a little tweaking. With eyebrow shaping, I have to practice more and Ms Monica is the lightest and bubbliest MUA I have ever talked to. You are not pressured to do well or whatev. She and the MUFE staff in Bonifacio High Street is easy to get a long with. :)

So here are the random tips for this sesh! :)

Tip 1: Contour = to "cut"/"shorten" a feature. Highlight = to emboss a feature.
Where will you put contouring? Sides of the nose. Cheekbones, middle of the ear towards the lip area. Jawline. And sides of the forehead towards the temples.

Tip 2: You can also contour under the lip, to make the chin show. (I hope you can get it, Im really bad at describing things and any sort of describing actually. haha)

and last tip: Never over tweeze your brows!! It's a no-no.

another trivia Ms Monica (our MUA teacher) gave us: Oprah said the term PLUCKING shouldn't be use because plucking is for chickens! It's called TWEEZING. :)

What I learned: DAY1

so im here to share random things/tips that I learned from school (in every sesh.)

Tip 1: The distance between you and your client should be a brush length
Tip 2: As much as possible, never touch the client's face (put your hand in her head, or your hand resting on her cheeks during eye makeup application)
Tip 3: POSTURE! POSTURE! POSTURE!. As Ms Yuki said, "i-project mo!" (haha, Ms Yuki is so funny!! I love her and the MUFE staff! They are so bubbly and light!)
Tip 3: PRIMER is a must for a clean canvas! :)

actually, I learned a lot and improved my techniques in base application.
The hardest part to blend is the nose area!! Ms Yuki have to assist me in blending that part.
What I love about day 1? Knowing MUFE's products! sometimes, there are products that are not in the shelf, so ask them! :)

HAVE UNDER EYE DISCOLORATION WITH WRINKLES OR FINE LINES? Conceal it with a orange corrector, then use MUFE's LIFT CONCEALER in your color and set with powder! :)
My concealers usually sink into fine lines, but when my classmate put it on me, I was amaze that I'm going to buy this concealer soon! It's the most amazing thing ever. Goodbye MAC, I met my soulmate (concealer that is. I cannot let go of my MAC e/s addiction just yet! :P)

Though I feel so guilty about wasting latex sponges and puffs. (Because they're not biodegradable.) :(

Ok, it's 6 in the morning and my daughter woke me up about an hour ago for a diaper change, and since I have this thing when I wake up it'll be hard to sleep again. So I decided to let you know more about me

1. I'm a first born. But being spoiled like the baby. (Though I get my fair share of nos and sermons from mom, and a couple from my step-dad but never on my real dad, he's such a spoiler!! hhaha i love it)

2. I went into a drinking and smoking phase, and came to a point where I had enough of my craps and deal with life.

3. I have pre-mature wrinkles in my under eye because I rub my eyes too much when I was a kid (to teen actually, I just stopped rubbing my eyes during college days when I become so conscious with my look. though, it's a habit, im trying really hard not to)

4.I'm a pastry student! Yes, I bake for passion and love for anything sweet (and sour). I love baking and I collect cookie cutters! :) My forte is chocolate piping.

5. I have a love affair with intricate details! :) When you see me in a museum, I'll probably be looking closely to very details and curve. I'm an artist to be exact. I love to draw and colors are lovelovelove, hnce makeup artistry and Pastry Art are my love!

6. I've been suspended once in highschool because I fake an ID for the final exams. (My school is corrupt! haha they wont let you take any exams unless you have an ID, and I misplace mine all the time. haha)

7. My daughter is everything in my world. The only thing I didnt gave up on. Yes, she made me that strong. Dspite everything I lack, she makes me believe that I can with her by my side.

8. Much like my dad, I'm a spoiler!! I spoil my little sisters a lot! My youngest sis, can get her way always!! Sometimes it makes me tick-off and spank her in her hands but when she's crying I'll cry in guilt!

9. I took Algebra 3times in college. I was thqat bad in math! hahahahaha. The only time I "passed" in Algebra is when they remove the subject in my course!! HAHAHAHAHA. Th teacher even teased me about this. and I still laugh about this until now. haha

10. I was bitched all my life by girls. They find me intimidating and snob and always "bragging". They always interpret me in the opposite way. I'm really shy and I hate being the first one to approach because I have this feeling they wont smile/talk back. And with the bragging issue? I dont really get it. Half of my class during first year college didnt talk to me for one sem (I transferred school after) because a group of girls was acting like kids and saying I was bragging my things by bringing them to school. When does bringing a bag to school became a bragging? Or always bringing a stuff toy in class a stupid idea? My school is an hour away from home and I sleep on the car while travelling. I swear, up until now it can get to my nerves! One time I bought a cheap canvas tote bag to school, and guess what that girls told me? I'm trying to get sympathy from the boys (because they're the only ones who would hangout w me or accompany me during lunchs) by bringing cheap bags. wtf.

I want "taho" badly. When was the last time you ate taho? Our village wont let taho vendors in. So, the last time I ate taho is 3 years. eek.

On Allergies, Crashing laptop and recent haulage

Hi everyone. I havent been doing fotds lately because I'm having bad allergies from:
a) moisturizer (TFS)
b) the recent weather
c) so much pollution.
I have this skin condition, it's called Atopic Dermatitis or also known as Skin Asthma. My derma is always successful in controlling unwanted rashes on my face and body. But sometimes, being too hard headed, I forget to put my creams and try different face creams (I'm currently using Avene, this works for me hands down). Right now, she's asking me to take my other cream and continue using Avene. Guess what? hahaha, I just bought a Clinique 3 step skin thingymajigy from Duty Free last Saturday. She said it's ok, and it's good that I bought it in trial size, so if any reaction occurs, I could stop. :)

Garnier Eye Roll-on made my eyes sore. I'm allergic to it. Blah. Im not allergic to caffeine either because MAC's fast response eye cream works really well. So, whatever it is, I'm stopping. :p

My laptop finally crashed. I'm going to have it fix, put a new "memory" or whatever because it's running really slow. So no pictures for now.

Recent haul is small. I dropped by yesterday at MAC to buy On A Prowl n/p until I decided to get Orly nalang since I use a nail color once or twice only. I went back to MAC to get Expensive Pink since I want it. :) So, yeah. I'll get back as soon as my allergies is gone. :D toodles.

Review: MAC Prep+Prime Eye

A light textured cream to wear on the eyes as an undercoat to eye makeup. Primes the lids. Smooths textures, neutralizes lid colour. Use under eye shadow, pigments, paints and concealers.

Love:
- The texture is so smooth and somehow like butter, it goes on well on my dry lids.
- My eye make up stayed put (8 hours)
- A little goes a long way

Hate:
- Price! For 1050Php, get a paintpot instead
- Container! It's freaking small.
- This wouldn't work on oily lids because of the "butter" consistency. IMO
- I got teary eyed, and the colors in the inner part of the eye (tear-duct) was erased. as in, no trace that there's been a primer or lid color.

I give it 3 out of 5.
Get paintpot instead. :p

Meet my daughter

My friends know how irresponsible I can get, and how much I hate responsibility. During highschool, I'd hate my teachers when they make me a leader or whatever. I dont let my classmates elect me in class, I'll hate them forever if they'd do (which they did during 1st year highschool)

I was a wild child. Careless. Free. And a girl who can definitely drink with guys (I'm big with alcohol before!). I would flirt non-stop, and would steal someone's boyfriend. But like what they say, Karma's a bitch.

I was in second year college, Im with this guy who really loves me and I, stole him from a girl. Im not down with commitment, call me a bitch but that's what I am (before though). Then there's this guy who I notice from my computer subject and he was freaking cute. I've told my college friends that he will be mine! Thus, the teasing. I flirted with him and yes, I stole him from his girlfriend (again) and broke my boyfriend's heart. I invited him for my 18th birthday party and started making out. To make it short after a month, I called him mine.. and guess what? After a month again, I found out I was pregnant. I was 18, and very young.

Mom's the calm one. Dad didnt talk to me for months, after I give birth, that's the only time he did say something. "Disappointment. I told you, you can live freely not conceive! But what's done is done and we can take it back. Be a good mother". That broke my heart, but I wouldn't give up.

She was born last May 2007. Her name is Mia Amerie Yve. Her father and I broke up 2 months after I gave birth.

Everytime I fail at something, my parents would talk about responsibility. And I wasnt over the parties and everything

Until last year, around June, I overdosed and it was near-death experience for me. I saw my daughter before my eyes, and how she will suffer because of my irresponsibility. It reminded me that I'm her only parent. That I'll be the only one who can fight for her and stand up for her.

And that change everything.
Right now, she's almost 2. Big and talkative. We love eating, watching tv, watching youtube vids and shopping together. She would always make me feel good when I'm in my lowest.

Being pregnant at 18, is something Im not proud of. But my daughter is someone I will always be proud of. Despite everything that my heart when through, she gave me reason to fight for life. She's my inspiration!

Im 20, and a single mom. And very proud of it! :)

so here is my MAC haul last wednesday! :)

My first MAC brushes! Well, full size one since I have the brush set (i dont know which collection it was, but it have silver handles, and it came with a cute white/silver pouch!)
I've been reading/watching videos on brushes because I finally told myself that it's time to invest on good brushes! :)
MAC 239 is great. and i super love MAC 217 for blending.
Next brush? MAC 219! :)

Lyn recommended this one a long time ago, but being a noob that time, I was hesitating on buying something I (thought) wouldn't use. But when I started grooming my brows and shaping them, a brow gel became a must-have! I finished MAC brow gel in clear, and so I bought this one! And Jheng was right, it made my brows looks a lot more natural. :) This is one of my must-have now! :)

Because on my dismay with the Laura Mercier SC, im back on Studio Finish concealer in NC35! :) love this one.

This, I regret buying. I havent tried it yet but I kinda think that I should have gotten a paintpot or a shadestick instead, bummer. But let's see. I'll try it out tomorrow and will post a review afterwards. :)

Though I dont like the smell, it looks so natural and this is from mom (I would never shell out 2,550pesos for a loose powder, I rather have Ellana Minerals!), and I love her for a lot of reason, but this, my friend, is like a sign that she trust me now that I wont lose my makeup mojo! :) I love you mama, thanks for supporting this addiction. :p You're the best mama! (because I have 4! hahaha, long story)

MY SAY:
I love the color payoff of this concealer. I used to use their concealer pot before and it made my bad college eyebags ok to live with. But this one, it was insane! It's so dry, it's hard to swatch them with my brush! and for Php1650, this one is pretty steep. It creases like hell too, instead of covering the fine lines, it emphasizes it more! Imagine my horror when I saw my face in a beauty counter!!!

PROs:
1. Available locally (Rustan's)
2. Great color payoff
3. Covers under eye discoloration well

CONs:
1. Creases!
2. It's so dry!!
3. Steep price for something that's useless to me now :(
4. Emphasizes than conceal

Tips:
1. I cant lose hope on this one, since I'm the only medium tone here in our house. So, I mix it with a little eyecream/apply it after I put eyecream on. (Minimal effect though, it still creases on me sometimes)
2. This is suitable for oily skins

Im going back to MAC soon for a concealer. HGs are HG, never forget that Care. :(
